Environment and Distractions

The Mind:
With so many things demanding our attention, it is amazing that anyone gets anything done.
Sure we can multi-task, but is multi-tasking really effective?

The Place:
A coffee shop is a creative place, but incoming and outbound people and loud coffee grinders surround it.
A home office is quiet, but it is also home where other chores might demand your time.

Resources
Wi-Fi, or free wi-fi depending on where you are is a distraction. Why hop on the 'net to check something, only to find yourself an hour later complete with FaceBook & Twitter updates.
Sometimes, if I go to a coffee shop, I pack my laptop and I forget my notes or my voice recorder. Only to find myself at the coffee shop, distracted by what I forgot to bring only then not be able to work on anything, which defeated my purpose of going there in the first place.

I think everyone has a bit of attention deficient disorder in them. I have lots of books on the craft of writing, but I find myself only able to get through a few chapters in one setting.

Sure, you don't need a laptop or a computer in general to write. A pen/pencil & paper will do, but if you had handwriting like I do, you'd appreciate a computer's help. Not to mention, I can type faster than I think, but I think faster than I write.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to sit and read or write in any environment, free from too many distractions.

Where is such a place? If I find this place, would I be inspired to write?

What if I find this place, would it really help me pen a few novels? While growing broke buying needed caffeine assuming it is a coffee shop?
